Good morning everyone. This Monday we will begin our second week of school after vacations. We are starting a fresh period, so take this as an opportunity to improve your grade. For next class you should have read chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Candide. You will write an essay (about three paragraphs) answering the following questions:

1. Which character or characters represent Leibniz?
2. Which character or characters represent Voltaire´s point of view?
3. Which events in the story are similar to the ones in Voltaire´s life (remember what we saw in class)?
4. How does Voltaire make fun of/satirize the Principle of the Best?
5. Which episode was most interesting to you?
